Manu was the progenitor of humankind. Atri, a great sage (Saptarishi) and son of Brahma, created a separate line from Manu which then mated into Manu's line through his daughter Ila, creating the Lunar Dynasty, to which Lord Krishna belonged.
Atri was father of Lord Dattatreya, who was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Lord Dattatreya is an incarnation of Vishnu and is son of Atri and Anasuya. He taught Advaita Vedanta and is a lord of yoga who is mentioned with great esteem in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. When the world was about to enter the Kali Yuga, Lord Krishna, concerned that his teachings and the purpose of his incarnation would get lost in the coming dark age, consulted with Dattatreya, the spiritual teacher of the ending Dwapara Yuga, and asked him to preserve His teachings. Dattatreya then called on the nine Nath yogis to establish a spiritual framework and code for the coming age, and the Tradition of the Nath Yogis was established. Mowgli is descended from this lineage.

Nimbargi Maharaj carried on the spiritual lineage of Lord Reva Nath from the Kaddasiddha (Reva Nath) saints. Nimbargi had his initiation from a saint called Muppinmuni, who lived about the year 1810 in Siddhagiri, and who was in the Kadasiddha line.

Siddharameshwar was a forceful enlightened sage of the Inchegiri Navnath Sampradaya. He could be characterized by a strong and controlled voice over consciousness and beyond. Like the progentior fo the Navnaths, Dattatreya, Siddharameshwar understood and taught the Advaita Vedanta. Siddharameshwar was the Guru of Nisargadataa Maharaj, Mowgli's Guru.

Born on the birthday of Hanuman, Nisargadatta was an enlightened Sage of the Nath Yogi lineage (Inchegiri Navnath Sampradaya), founded by Lord Dattatreya at the request of Krishna. He is the Guru of Mowgli. Mowgli was initiated into the Inchegiri Navnath Sampradaya in 2016 by Nisargadatta's direct disciple, Sri Ramakant Maharaj in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. According to Mowgli, Nisargadatta and his predecessor, Siddharameshwar Maharaj, were avatars of Lord Vishnu.
